The Committee on the Environment, Agriculture and Local and Regional Affairs of the Council of Europe has published its resolution 1815 (2011) on the potential dangers of electromagnetic fields and their effects on the environment.
That resolution makes the following recommendations, among others:
- To take all reasonable measures to reduce exposure to electromagnetic fields, especially to radio frequencies from mobile phones, and particularly the exposure to children and young people who seem to be most at risk from head tumours.
- To set preventive thresholds for levels of exposure in indoor areas (to emissions from mobile telephones, WiFi, WLAN, WIMAX, etc.).
- To install systems for comprehensive and continuous monitoring of telecommunications base stations.
