Wavecontrol presents its professional radioelectric measurement equipment SMP. The SMP is a reader that can use different electromagnetic field probes to measure the fields emitted by telecommunication services and high-voltage lines.
There are different types of probes for different applications, from broadband probes with measurement capacity ranging from 100 kHz to 3 GHz and 8 GHz, to specific probes for measuring the emissions of mobile telephone services or high-voltage lines. The SMP automatically recognises each of those probes and goes to the appropriate operating mode. All measurements are isotropic and all readings are RMS, as specified by international standards and recommendations. The figures displayed on the screen are always the three field components (Ex, Ey, Ez) and the total field (E). Average figures are obtained by means of the “sliding window” technique to prevent loss of information. Its small size and light weight make it an ideal device for field work: on-site measurements, workplace validation, telecommunication infrastructure certification, and so on. The device can work for over 10 hours without recharging. When working with high field levels, the SMP can be programmed for an alarm threshold so that an audible alarm will be triggered if the threshold is exceeded. It has a large data storage capacity and an intelligent memory management system, so that memory is occupied dynamically, depending on whether a large number of registers with little data or just few registers with a large capacity are needed. The device has a built-in latest-generation GPS system to allow the user to link measurements to location, to prevent errors and to allow the data to be displayed on a GIS system if necessary. The data can be downloaded to a computer via a simple USB connection for subsequent processing, preparation of measurement reports, and so on. The data is downloaded with the format: date and time - measurement value - GPS position.
The main applications are: Site validation and telecommunication infrastructure certification. Radioelectric safety audits. Compliance with the European directive 2004/40/CE on worker safety in electromagnetic fields. The following are the most important standards for use of the SMP:
