What is the purpose of a GPS in the SMP?

The GPS indicates the position of the data that is being gathered. When you take a measurement using the SMP with the GPS switched on, the data is stored in the memory along with the GPS position. This means that later, after downloading to a computer, the data can displayed in a GIS (geographic information system) using any georeferenced map.

The fact that the GPS is incorporated has several advantages, such as convenience, ease of use and lower price.
